Job Description


Maintains system security and establishes practices and procedures, monitors usage statistics and logs and makes recommendations to increase performance and/or security

Develops baseline configurations and directs modification of configuration settings

Develops troubleshooting and incident response procedures

Troubleshoots system related problems and performs break/fix actions to restore service outages

Provides team leadership and guidance to less experienced administrators

Provides database support for various web applications as needed

Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications

Recommends future direction or projects to management

Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system and provide better services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Has experience with Storage (EMC/NetApp/QNAP), Virtualization (ESX/VMWare), Windows (Server 2003/Server 2008/Server 2012/Exchange/SCCM/SCOM), and McAfee Products

Has full technical knowledge of all facets of systems administration

Excellent communication skills; shows tact and professionalism, effective listening skills and follow through

Can create effective and clear user manuals; must be able to write and evaluate highly complex programs that contribute to effective hardware and software operating systems

Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work

Able to review the work of others and detect errors or needed modifications

Able to identify and resolve problems and troubleshoot incidents as they arise

Familiarity with BMC Remedy for tracking incidents and changes


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


5-8 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

Security+ CE Required
