Job Description

Design, develop, modify and test software for US Navy Ships.

1. Plans, develops, tests, and documents US Navy simulation and control systems software
2. Generates new code and corrects, converts, and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications.
3. Prepares detailed specifications from which code will be written.
4. Writes and updates technical documentation such as users’ manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
5. Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems.
6. Creates physics based models for Navy power and control systems.
7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
8. Participates in special projects as required.

Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

1. 2-5 years of programming experience.
2. Strong object oriented programming skills (Java, C/ C++ and/or C#)
3. Experience with version control software, such as SourceSafe, Subversion, Git, etc.

2-5 years of related software development experience:


1. Programming languages – Ada, C++
2. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and above
3. Operating systems - Windows 7, RedHat or other Linux Shell administration and programming
4. Versa Module Eurocard (VME) Bus Experience or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Experience
5. VMWare Administration
6. Strong programming skills and experience with Matlab and Simulink, especially the following: Real-Time Workshop, SimPowerSystems, Stateflow, StateflowCoder.
7. Experience working in a CMMI environment
8. Experience designing, developing, deploying and maintaining software based simulations.

Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.

The work is typically performed in an office environment and at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.

Travel will be required, approx. 20-30% travel is not out of the ordinary.
