Job Description

Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment.

* Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and related devices.
* Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in order to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.
* Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment.
* Modifies circuitry to improve performance.
* Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems.
* Provides operation/maintenance instruction to customer personnel.
* Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation.
* Assists engineering staff in determining and solving equipment design problems.
* May perform quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians.
* May provide work leadership to less-experienced technicians.
* Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
* Participates in special projects as required.

Education

Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications

3-5 years of directly related experience supporting engineering operations. Additional experience required:

* Select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. Receives initial instruction, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
* Construct components, sub-units, or simple models or adapts standard equipment. May troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
* Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and sub-units.
* Conduct various tests or experiments that may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; select, set up, and operate standard test equipment and record test data.
* Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; process data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; select methods of data presentation.
* Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts. Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications. Recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seeks sources to clarify information.

Must obtain CSWF IAT I certification.

Experience in developing and implementing DoD security measures, handling sensitive information, analyzing security procedures, and developing strategies to mitigate security risks
