Job Description

* Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and related devices.
* Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in order to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.
* Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment.
* Modifies circuitry to improve performance.
* Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems.
* Provides operation/maintenance instruction to customer personnel.
* Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation.
* Works with engineering staff to determine and solve equipment design problems.
* Performs quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians.
* Provides work leadership to less-experienced technicians.
* Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
* Participates in special projects as required.


Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


5-8 years of directly related experience supporting engineering operations.

Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment. Additional experience required:

* Perform non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using operational precedents not fully applicable. Such assignments, which are typically parts of broader assignments, are screened to eliminate unusual design problems. Receive technical advice from supervisory or engineer; work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions). May be assisted by lower level technicians.
* Develop or review designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data. Apply conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings, and diagrams; hardware fittings or test equipment involving a variety of mechanisms; conventional piping systems; and building site layouts.
* Conduct tests requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures; set up and operate equipment; record data, measure and record problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level; and analyze data and prepare test reports.
* Apply methods outlined by others to limited segments of R&D projects; construct experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements; conduct tests or experiments and redesign as necessary; and record and evaluate data and report findings.
Experience in developing and implementing DoD security measures, handling sensitive information, analyzing security procedures, and developing strategies to mitigate security risks

Must obtain CSWF IAT I certification.
