Job Description

1. Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.

2.Provides the lead and oversight in maintaining, application servers, test and development environments. These may include Windows based systems, and a variety of UNIX variants. Ensures that software updates, patches and configurations are maintained to current standards, assists with account creations and permission granting as well monitoring and tweaking system parameters to maximize system performance. The Senior System Center Operation Manager (SCOM) Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the enterprise SCOM platform. The SCOM platform within Crane is the "single pane of glass" for monitoring all technology systems and applications. The Senior SCOM Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with Windows, Linux and Network systems engineers, application technical support analysts and developers, internal and external support teams, to determine requirements for filters, events, alerts, and dashboards and reporting.

3. Sets up administrator and service accounts as it relates to Windows based systems and testing.

4. Maintains system documentation

5. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.

6. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources that include Windows applications.

7. May program in an administrative language.

8. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

9. Provides advice and training to end-users.

10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members.

11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

12. Participates in special projects as required.


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


5-8 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.
